Not infrequently, we like to go for a drive with no pre-determined destination. We've had a couple very successful ones lately.
A couple weeks ago, we got in the car and started driving, following the whim of the moment. For some reason I took us into the fast food strip of Springfield, Ohio, where there is nothing particularly special. Very soon, my hunger was closing in and I was losing faith. Then suddenly, to our left, we spotted a mexican food truck. Score! We figured if nothing else, we'd get ourselves a cultural experience. We were given the special bonus of really good mexican food. I had a huarache, a dish I'd never even heard of before, and it was delicious. We loved it so much, went back a few days later.
Muy bien!
Last Friday, we went on another spontaneous drive. A wind from the south-east was calling our name this time. We wandered through the country side, one small town to another, until we stumbled upon little Jeffersonville, a place we'd never been before. Quite surprising as we tend to do a lot of this country driving. Right on the downtown junction, we found Don & Martys Pizza & Carryout. It was awesome! Two pool tables at only 50c a game. A jukebox with EVERY song for free. And tables just the right size for Malcolm to sit up at and enjoy watching us for a whole hour. We ate pizza, shot pool, and listened to some of Chris's country favorites. Marty even showed us around her back room, where we got to check out her massive gum-ball machines (this was quite relevant to us, as we had just gotten into the gum-ball machine business that morning with Chris's recent purchase of one). Afterword, we crossed the street to the local video rental store, which was going out of business, and we scored on some cheap DVD's and visited with the owner about his future plans.
The Till's still know how to have a good time!
We love the taco truck!
